Although it was just announced, and it doesn’t come out for another two years, the buzz is already building for Inside Out 2. It isn’t the fans are hyping the film up though. Instead, it’s the film’s own star.

Shortly after taking the stage at D23 to help make the announcement, Amy Poehler met up with the press to discuss the project. In one particular post interview with Variety, however, Poehler made a pretty good case for why she thinks the sequel has the potential to be much better than the original.

She explains, “[In the film] Riley’s getting older…She’s becoming a teenager. Remember that time where all these ideas and feelings came into your head and you were like, ‘Who [am I]?’ I think there’s going to be a huge amount of fun had.”

She adds that she thinks the way the filmmakers will explore puberty is going to be much different than the way it was explored in the first film. She says, “I think we’re gonna, in many ways, explore the idea that you really have to stay flexible and figure out – if one is to have a curious and beautiful life – how to make friends with the things that are inside your head.”

Does that mean that Riley might actually meet her emotions this time around?

Sadly, we’ll have to wait a little while longer to find out. But considering that she offered a lot more information than what the actual panel offered should leave fans content until then.
