Manny Jacinto is set to join the Star Wars universe as the actor has signed on to star in Lucasfilm and Disney+’s upcoming series The Acolyte.
The Good Place star joins a growing list of top-tier talent that also includes Amandla Stenberg (The Hate You Give), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), and Lee Jung- Jae (Squid Game). The studio is keeping everyone’s character details under wraps. Sadly, Lucasfilm kept quiet on the project at Disney’s D23 Expo this past weekend.
Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) will write, executive produce, and serve as the series showrunner. The 8-episode series will focus on the emergence of dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era. The series will be female-centric and will take place in a new part of the Star Wars timeline. Rayne Roberts is co-developing the series with Headland.
The series is expected to begin production in London in late fall.
