Madame Web is a part of Sony’s growing Spider-Man universe, which also includes Venom, Morbius, Kraven The Hunter, El Muerto, and Spider-Woman. As Madame Web continues production, some new set photos have been leaked revealing a new Spider-Man character.
Thanks to Instagram user @dakotaportugal, we get a new look at what appears to be an action sequence on a crane. The images show off three different stunt double actors, noted by the user as doubling for Dakota Johnson, Celeste O’Connor, and Tahar Rahim.
Who is this Mysterious Spidey Character?
As you can see from the various photos Tahar Rahim’s character is wearing a Spidey suit and while his character details are being kept under wraps there is one guess I have. This is just a guess, but the color scheme and suit resemble Ezekiel Sims. Sims is one of many in the Spider-Man universe to take over the role from Peter Parker. While in the comics the Ezekiel Sims is portrayed as an old man, we know this movie is taking some liberties such as Dakota Johnson playing a younger Madame Web.
Madame Web has an all-star cast that also includes Emma Roberts, Sydney Sweeny, Adam Scott, Isabela Merced, Zosia Mamet, and Mike Epps. As of now, Sony is keeping who the cast is playing under wraps. S.J. Clarkson directs the project, based on the comic book character who is a clairvoyant mutant specializing in predicting the future of Spider-themed superheroes. It appears the film will follow the younger Madame Web Julia Carpenter, who is the second character to take on the mantle following Casandra Webb.
The Sony/Marvel feature just received a new release date this summer and will now hit theaters on October 6, 2023.
