Last month, Jamie Lee Curtis let the world know that she had let Disney know she is ready to make Freaky Friday 2. Well, her Freaky Friday costar Lindsay Lohan recently revealed she is ready too!
Lohan was on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to promote her new holiday rom-com Falling For Christmas and during the conversation Fallon Brought up Curtis’ comments about a possible sequel, which Lohan replied “We did speak about it, yeah.”
When Fallon asked whether the project is “moving forward” Lohan played coy, “Let’s just take the fact that I was on set filming at the time, and Jamie Lee Curtis writes, and you just get excited and distracted immediately, so I had to bring myself down to Earth and be like, ‘I’m on set, I have to focus.’ Then she said Freaky Friday 2, and I got more excited.”
The Freaky Friday franchise consists of the original theatrical film, starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, its made-for-television adaptation, the theatrical remake, a Broadway musical, and the Disney Channel Original Movie adaptation. The franchise as a whole centers around body-swapping between parents and their children, who initially find they cannot agree on anything. Over the course of each respective installment, they individually find that they have respect for each other and they gain a better understanding of the other individual.
The 2003 Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan-led remake was met with positive reviews. The film grossed over $160 million at the worldwide box office on just a $20 million budget.
