‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ Director David Lowery Boards New Star Wars Series ‘Skeleton Crew’

Since it was announced last year, the intrigue surrounding Lucasfilm’s Skeleton Crew has only increased. Incidentally, it’s because of the selective secrecy surrounding it. To date, the public has only been shown a single still image from the show. Aside from Jude Law no other official cast members have been confirmed either.

Just a last week it was announced that the Academy Award-winning duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert (professional known as Daniels) were expected to direct at least one episode of the series. Today, we have received word that another big name director has also come aboard the series.

According to our friend Big Screen Leaks via his outlet One Take News, David Lowery is expected to direct at least one episode of the series as well. Lowery is no stranger to Disney, after directing both the live-action Pete’s Dragon adaptation and the upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy remake at Disney+.

Described by some as a story in the vein of Stranger Things set after the events of Return of the Jedi, in the New Republic era, the series will reportedly revolve around a group of kids lost in the Star Wars galaxy trying to find their way home. It is being described as a “galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s”.

Production is believed to have already taken place this past Summer.

With Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Celebration next month, we anticipate more news about the project very soon!
