Hulu Begins to Crackdown on Password Sharing

Disney+ recently began to crackdown on its subscribers from sharing passwords with other users. Now, Hulu is set to do the same.

The Disney-owned streaming service on Wednesday sent an email to subscribers notifying them of an updated subscriber agreement, one that explicitly bars sharing accounts outside of the user’s household.

These terms will apply as of January 25, 2024 for new subscribers. For prior and existing subscribers, like you, these terms will be effective beginning on March 14, 2024, unless you acknowledge an in-app notice of these changes earlier. Until then, the terms of our prior Subscriber Agreement apply,” the email stated.

In November, Disney announced its intent to acquire Comcast’s stake in Hulu. The two companies previously agreed to a minimum floor price of $8.6 billion, which was paid for on December 1. On December 6, 2023, Disney launched a content hub for Disney+, which contains Hulu content for Disney Bundle subscribers in the United States in beta.
