Julia Garner Playing a Female Silver Surfer in ‘Fantastic 4’

Marvel Studios is moving quickly on The Fantastic 4, as the studio has tapped a rising young star to play a fan-favorite character.

According to Deadline, Emmy-winning actress Julia Garner has joined the star-studded cast that features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing).

Garner will play Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics.

Now, we await who is playing Galactus and Doctor Doom. Javier Bardem is the studios top choice to play Galactus. However, it is unknown if his availability has changed due to the strikes and his involvement on AppleTV+’s Formula 1 movie, which has Brad Pitt starring. As for Doom, the character isn’t expected to play the villain role in the movie, as Galactus will serve that role. However, the character will indeed make an appearance towards the end of the movie.

The Fantastic 4 is being directed by Matt Shakman and the screenplay is written by Josh Friedman, Cameron Squires, and Eric Pearson. It was produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Fantastic Four will now hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
