Well, the world of Tron is going to have a familiar face once again. As Tron: Ares continues production more information is coming to light on the mystery project.
While speaking with Film Comment podcast Jeff Bridges revealed he is reprising his role as Kevin Flynn.“I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the ‘Tron’ story; I’m excited about that. It’s wild. Jared Leto is the star of this third one, and I’m really anxious to work with him, and I’ve admired his work.”
As of now, it is unknown if Garett Hedlund, and/or Olivia Wilde, or any other characters from Tron: Legacy will also return or appear in any capacity for Tron: Ares.
The new story will reportedly focus on the emergence of Ares, a sentient program that crosses over into the human world that is not ready for contact. Jared Leto will play the human manifestation of that program.
The film will be directed by Joachim Rønning, with a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. The film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Sarah Desjardins.
Tron: Ares is scheduled to be released theatrically on October 10, 2025.
