The scoop game is quite crazy on social media, specifically in the Marvel space. So, I am taking a look at these “scoops” and will provide my insight and opinion on whether or not there is some weight to the info.

Doctor Doom/Fantastic Four

Cillian Murphy hot off Oppenheimer, Ben Affleck, and Mads Mikkelsen are among the names rumored for the iconic villain. While Murphy would be fantastic, I do not think he has any interest in the role, but he would be the one out of 3 that is most believable to actually be in the running. Affleck has been rumored for multiple roles over the years, most recently reprising his role as Daredevil in Deadpool 3, but I hear that is not the case. Mikkelsen is a no-go for the role.

Apocalypse

Dwayne Johnson apparently is wanted by Marvel Studios for the X-Men big bad, who is could go toe to toe with Thanos. Well, hate to burst everyone’s bubble but this one is not true. While Disney has an ongoing relationship with Johnson, an X-Men movie doesn’t even have a script turned in.

Black Cat

I’m amazed at some of these rumors sometimes, a Spider-Man 4 script hasn’t been written but Black Cat is going to be in it? Now, Sony has been trying to get Black Cat into their Spider-verse for quite some time, so I must say I don’t think this is out of the realm of possibility.

Ryan Coogler

Coogler has officially signed on to direct a third Black Panther movie and is being eyed to direct Marvel’s X-Men reboot. As of now, I do not believe Coogler is on board to direct Black Panther, but that’s only because I’ve heard he has sights set on another project. No not the X-Men reboot but Marvel has him on their shortlist for both Avengers films, though I’d imagine it would be one film not both. I have a sneaky suspicion Coogler is going to pass the Black Panther reigns to another director once a third entry is confirmed.

Spider-Man 4

Drew Godard, Justin Lin, Sam Raimi, and now, you can add James Wan to the growing list of names being thrown out to direct Spider-Man 4. Let me be very clear, I have no idea who is directing but none of these name strike me to be a good fit. Godard however has been on Sony’s sights for years now, he was attached to direct a Sinister Six movie during the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man days.

Spider-Gwen

Sony is officially in early stages of developing a live action Spider-Gwen movie. I have no clue if this is true, but knowing Sony and their wild visions they have Ala Morbius and Madam Web, I wouldn’t be shocked if they are actually trying to do this with Emma Stone, who is hot off her performance in Poor Things.

As of now, these are all rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt (some larger than others). Stick with The DisInsider as we continue to look into these rumors/projects and update you all when new information becomes available.
