Marvel Studios is one step closer to their X-MEN reboot and the introduction of mutants in the MCU.
According to Deadline, Michael Lesslie, the writer of Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, is currently in talks to write the screenplay. The project is in its early stages of development, with no cast, director, or release date yet determined.
Late last week, the choice was made to bring Michael Lesslie on board. However, even with Lesslie confirmed, it will take some time before the movie hits theaters, as the next step is to find a director to collaborate with Feige and Lesslie on its development.
Lesslie is best known for writing big features including Macbeth, Assassins Creed, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and is currently writing Now You See Me 3.
Marvel Studios is looking to begin filming on the project sometime in late 2025. This means the soonest we could see the X-Men in their own movie on the big screen again is 2027 at the earliest. We expect to hear more information on the project this Summer at Disney’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event.
