Rumor: Director Jordan Peele Met With Marvel Studios For ‘X-Men’

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Nope and Get Out director Jordan Peele had met with Marvel Studios to discuss the possibility of directing an upcoming project. While it was unknown what the project was for at the time, a new report has surfaced sharing some insight.

According to One Take News, Jordan Peele met with Marvel Studios to discuss their upcoming X-Men reboot. The site goes on to say that the meeting happened quite some time ago and it didn’t pan out. Sources say that Feige remains hopeful to find the right project for Peele but who knows when that would happen.

Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes scribe Michael Lesslie is currently penning the script for the X-Men movie, which is in its early stages of development, with no cast, director, or release date yet determined.

Peele is no stranger to working with The Walt Disney Company. He appeared in The Muppets episode “Swine Song”. He also voiced Bunny in the 2019 Disney/Pixar film Toy Story 4. Additionally, he had approached Disney about directing and producing a live-action adaptation of the Gargoyles franchise, but Disney has currently declined the proposal due to the film having been shelved over the years.

Marvel Studios is looking to begin filming on the project sometime in late 2025. This means the soonest we could see the X-Men in their own movie on the big screen again is 2027 at the earliest. We expect to hear more information on the project this Summer at Disney’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event.
