While Taylor Swift continues to dominate the world with her Eras Tour, the internet has gone ablaze speculating Swift’s involvement rumored involvement with Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine. Well, that may not be the case after all.
According to EW, Taylor Swift is not in Deadpool & Wolverine. While no additional context was really given, this begs the question, is this true? While I will not sit here and tell you 100% she is in it, there are too many very subtle hints for Swift not to make an appearance. Sorry EW, I am going down the rabbit hole and saying she is in it, and here is my reasoning.
We know Taylor Swift has worn the Deadpool mask for fun [she is good friends with Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively]. Then a few months back she was spotted at a Chiefs game with Reynolds, Lively, and director Shawn Levy. More recently, a new poster debuted showing Deadpool and Wolverine wearing “friendship bracelets” and while that doesn’t mean anything normally, Marvel Studios knows that internet is buzzing about Taylor Swift and friendship bracelets are a big part of Swifties experience at her shows, the marketing team knows exactly what they are doing and playing off of, so for them to market it like that and her not be in it would astound me.
Now, if she is in fact in the movie, would she be playing Dazzler? Well, that would be the obvious choice, but of course, Marvel has a plethora of characters. In a recent teaser there was an obvious peek at Lady Deadpool so that could be a possibility. Point is Marvel is playing coy and they know the impact Taylor Swift would make on their film at the box office even if that means a quick cameo.
Again, I am not saying she is in it but I am saying I am not ruling it.
On the flipside, there are rumors that the pop icon has actually met with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Although it’s unclear how recently they met, the main goal was to discuss a role for her in the MCU going forward. The rumored project is for a Blonde Phantom Disney+ series, produced by Scarlet Johannson. As of now, this information has yet to be confirmed.
Fans will have to wait until July 26, 2024 to know for sure if Swift is in Deadpool & Wolverine.
