Just when they though they were out, they were pulled right back in.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors behind Captain America: Winter Solider, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, are in early talks to return back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And it’s not just to direct any Marvel film. They’re in talks to direct not just the next Avengers film, but the next two!
The outlet reports that the talks are still in the very early stages, but that another name in contention is none other than Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy.
And while the talks are still in the very early stages, the way the outlet reports the news makes it sound like they have the current offer.
Previously, Kevin Feige went out of his way to say that the Russos were not attached to any upcoming Avengers film. And while it’s unclear what exactly changed him mind, fans are already celebrating their inevitable return.
Although many expect Shawn Levy to be a top pick after the anticipated success of Deadpool and Wolverine, we’re willing to bet Kevin Feige’s got much bigger plans for him.
Avengers 5 is set for May 1, 2026 and Secret Wars is set for May 7, 2027.
