Beau DeMayo was once Marvel’s star scribe. Not only did he contribute to the first season of Moon Knight. He also worked on early drafts of the upcoming Blade revamp. His most important contribution, however, was to the animated sequel series X-Men ’97.
Despite the success of the series, back in March The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Marvel Studios had deactivated DeMayo’s company email. DeMayo’s Instagram account, which had become known for frequent updates on the X-Men series was also deactivated.
Tonight, for the first time ever, DeMayo finally came forward to share what his side of the story.
In a brief Twitter thread, he alleged that Marvel cut ties with him after sharing fan art of him to celebrate Pride Month.
“On June 13, #Marvel sent a letter notifying me that they’d stripped my Season 2 credits due to the post,” one of his posts reads. “Sadly, this is the latest in a troubling pattern I suffered through while on working on #XMen97 and #Blade.”
Before concluding his post, DeMayo urged fans to “Stay tuned,” for more details in the future.
“I’ll have more to say soon but must take a step back from social media to find a safer space for me to be out, proud, and nerdy.”
