‘Holes’ TV Series to Be Directed By ‘Agatha All Along’ Creator Jac Schaeffer

The upcoming Holes television series is moving forward, with Jac Schaeffer, known for her work on Marvel Studios’ WandaVision and Agatha All Along, set to direct the pilot episode for Disney+.

The streaming platform greenlit the pilot in January, as initially indicated by Variety. Alina Mankin will take on the roles of writer and executive producer, while Liz Phang will serve as showrunner and executive producer. This adaptation of Louis Sachar’s 1998 novel will shift the narrative focus to a teenage girl who finds herself at a detention camp, where the stern Warden compels the campers to dig holes for an undisclosed reason. In contrast, Sachar’s original story and the 2003 film adaptation centered around a boy named Stanley Yelnats, portrayed by Shia LaBeouf in the movie.

Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg will serve as executive producers for the Holes pilot under Goddard Textiles, with Andrea Massaro taking on the role of co-executive producer. Additional executive producers involved in the project include Walden Media, Shamrock, and Mike Medavoy.
