Last week, you might recall some major Pixar news coming out of France’s 2025 Annecy International Animated Film Festival. But two weeks ago, we at The DisInsider were treated to the same exact presentation here in the United States. All the info we were told – and some of the images we were shown – were placed under a strict embargo…until now.
So let’s take a look at all of the upcoming films coming out from this week until 2028!
Elio

The presentation began with a brief intro from current Pixar head Pete Docter, then an extended look at Pixar’s next film, Elio. We were briefly shown the film’s latest trailer. But the real treat came after the event, when we were told that we would actually be screening the film! As of right now, reviews are still under embargo, but if you want to see all of the early reactions (including our own), click here.
Hoppers

After this, we were treated to extended first look a the studio’s next film, Hoppers. Directed by Daniel Chong, the film follows a college student named Mabel (played by Disney Channel star Piper Curda). She’s described as loving animals more than people, and she’s grown up near this forest area known as the Glade, which acts as a sanctuary to hundreds of animals. However, her town’s Mayor (played Jon Hamm) wants to destory the Glade and pave over it to make way for a new highway.
Mabel feels hopeless. That is, until she discovers this group of scientists who use this new technology to enter the minds of robots bodies that resemble animals. The technology is used by them to try and understand animals; however, Mabel sees the technology as an opportunity to try and save the Glade. She believes that if she can enter a robot animal’s body, she can convince the other animals to return back to the Glade so that it’s impossible to pave over.
We were then treated to a few clips of the film. The first showed Mabel, having just entered the body of a robot resembling a beaver. She saves another beaver from being eaten by a bear.
Another clip shows her being shown the rules of the wilderness by a real beaver (played by Bobby Moynihan). A third clip shows Beaver Mabel and some of her new few furry friends as they try and kidnap the Mayor. This particular sequence hints at him not actually being the film’s main antagonist.
Docter hilariously described the film as “[James Cameron’s] Avatar meets Mission: Impossible meets Planet Earth.” However, the footage actually feels like the film will be Avatar with animals.
Hoppers hits theaters this upcoming March!
Toy Story 5

Next up, the audience was given some new details about Toy Story 5.
The main cast of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack were confirmed to return. And the film’s antagonist was seemingly revealed to be a tablet named Lily Pad. That’s the name of a new tablet Bonnie receives in the film.
As previously revealed at D23, the film will be about “toy vs tech.” It will see all of the classic toys reunite to try and deal with a new common enemy, technology. Without giving too much away, Docter said that, despite being separated from the group in the last film, Woody would be still be back for this film’s adventure, and that the toys will find a way to bring him back into Bonnie’s room to help deal with this new crisis. The whole idea behind this film is how toys can really act as a child’s parent, impacting how they interact and who they become.
Before this part of the presentation concluded, the audience was treated to the first five minutes of the film. It follows a hoard of Buzz Lightyear action figures who find themselves stranded on a remote tropical island. Out of context, it’s not entirely clear how it connects to the rest of the film, but it certainly starts the story on a very interesting note.
Toy Story 5 will be directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) and hits theaters next June!
Gatto

While we have already reported on it after news broke of its development on Friday, at the time the next film was a total surprise.
Following Toy Story 5, Pixar will release its answer to the Oscar-winning film Flow, Gatto. Make no mistake, the film has nothing in common with Flow other than the fact that it’s protagonist will be a black cat.
Brought to you from the same team that brought you Luca (director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren) the film will take audiences back to Italy (more specifically Venice) for a film that will challenge the audience with a brand new art style. The film’s artwork is set to mimic how “Venice is like a living painting.” It’ll be reminiscent of the new 2D-3D hybrid being explored in animation right now, but it’s really explore the depth and dimension you expect from a Pixar film in new ways.
The main character is a black cat named Nero. For him, Venice is a nightmare for one, it’s surrounded by canals and Nero can’t swim. On top of the prospect of being drowned literally, he’s also drowning in debt – and he finds himself forced to work for a cat mob boss by the name of Rocco. But his life changes when he meets a young street musician by the name of Maya.
The film has no release date, but it is expected to hit theaters in 2027!

Before the panel ended, Docter did confirm that both The Incredibles 3 and Coco 2 were still in active development. Currently, they are on the studio’s schedule for 2028!
But that’s not all the panel had…stay tuned for more shortly!
