Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to begin today. And while it’s still unclear which villain the titular webslinger will face off again, leaked set photos may have just given fans a massive hint.

Early this morning, a Reddit user submitted a photo from the film’s set in Glasgow. All the user could post was what looked like an armored vehicle with the symbol of a demon on it.

While most would probably assume it’s a hint toward another appearance of Mephisto, if you’re a fan of the comics and other recent Spider-Man media you may have already figured out who it could really be teasing: The Inner Demons.

Now, in the comics the Inner Demons are a street-level group with supernatural abilities. However, most fans might be more familiar with their leader, Mister Negative.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Mister Negative is half of the product of a failed experiment involving a synthetic drug. The original identity of the test subject is unknown; however, the drug would allow the him to develop dual personalities. The other being a suspiciously philanthropic individual known as Mr. Positive. While Mr. Positive would go on to found the F.E.A.S.T Project to help NYC’s homeless, Mr. Negative would exploit them and wreak havoc within the city’s criminal underworld.

His powers include healing, mind-control through “corruption”, and charging weapons with his energy. He even imbues the Inner Demons with the ability to regenerate – arguably putting Wolverine’s healing factor to shame – so you can imagine how much harder it might be for Spider-Man to fend them off.

Mr. Negative gained popularity in recent years as one of the main antagonists in Playstation’s Spider-Man video game.

Now, keep in mind, this has not been confirmed. Sure it’s possible it could be a fake leak, or an image released to throw fans of off the film’s true scent. Marvel did similar misdirection with Deadpool and Wolverine. With such a limited cast list, we’re not even sure who is playing the antagonist in the film. But if one thing’s certain, it’s that fans will be picking a part this crumb until either Sony or Marvel deliver some real news.

No plot details as of yet but Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man along with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, plus some new actors joining the film including Netflix’s Stranger Things and Tony nominee actress Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s The Hulk and FX’s The Bear star and Emmy winner Liza Colon-Zayas.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will began filming this Summer in London and set with release date of July 31, 2026 being directed Destin Daniel Cretton and co-produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal.
