From Doctor Who to the The Terminator and even the MCU (kinda), Matt Smith has made a career out of appearing in sci-fi staples. Now, he’s taking a massive leap to one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises, Star Wars.
According to Deadline, Smith has been tapped to star as the villain in Lucasfilm’s next entry in the series, Star Wars: Starfighter. He joins the previously announced Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth.
Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) will direct from a script penned by Jonathan Tropper (Apple TV+’s Your Friends And Neighbors)
Smith’s casting announcement is reportedly the first of many to come over the next few weeks, as the film gears up to shoot this fall.
Star Wars: Starfighter will be the next original Star Wars story to hit theaters after The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters next May.
The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 28, 2027.
