After weeks of speculation, Disney has officially confirmed that the Muppets are indeed returning with a brand new show!
The announcement was made in a post on social media this evening from the company’s Disney+ account. It will air as a celebration of the brand’s upcoming 50th anniversary.
That’s not all! Everyone’s favorite furry characters will be joined by former Disney Channel star and current international superstar Sabrina Carpenter!
According to Variety, the new show will be a one-off experience, which is why the post describes it as an “event.” However, depending on the popularity it could also serve as a back-door pilot to a regular series.
The post also confirms what we previously reported about the project being produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures!
While Rogen’s name may come as a surprise, this actually wouldn’t be his first time involved at the studio, as he previously voiced Pumba in the live-action Lion King movies and has been working on a project about the Disney icon Figment for years!
