Robert Carradine, a member of Hollywood’s the Carradine family, has passed away at the age of 71.
The cause of death was tragically suicide. His family stated he had battled bipolar disorder for nearly two decades, calling it a “valiant struggle” that ultimately overcame him. They hope sharing this reduces mental health stigma, noting no shame in the illness.
Carradine’s appeared on television Western series such as Bonanza and his brother David’s TV series, Kung Fu. Carradine’s first film role was in the 1972 film The Cowboys, which starred John Wayne and Roscoe Lee Browne. Carradine also portrayed fraternity president Lewis Skolnick in the Revenge of the Nerds series of comedy films.
His Disney roles include Maxwell Dweeb in Totally Minnie, Don Keeble in Max Keeble’s Big Move, Sam McGuire in Lizzie McGuire, John Fairfield in the Disney Sunday Movie episode “The Liberators”, and Malachi Van Helsing in Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire.
Robert Carradine is survived by his children, grandchildren, brothers, nieces, nephews and anyone who had the honor of having him in their life. His family asks for privacy at this time.
