Move over, everyone else. There’s only one friendly neighborhood superhero collecting records this weekend.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially delivered one of the biggest opening weekends in cinematic history, proving that if you put Tom Holland in a red-and-blue suit, audiences will happily throw their wallets at the nearest movie theater.
The latest Marvel and Sony collaboration debuted with an estimated $355 million domestically and an astonishing $927 million worldwide, making it the second-biggest global opening weekend ever, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
At this point, Spider-Man isn’t just fighting supervillains—he’s picking fights with the record books.
Industry analysts expected a massive debut, but Brand New Day managed to leap over nearly every prediction like it was another rooftop in Manhattan. The film’s opening day alone shattered records before the weekend had even begun, making it clear that Peter Parker’s “brand new day” was everyone else’s “good luck competing.”
The biggest loser this weekend? Every other movie currently playing.
While theaters were filled with web-heads cheering every swing, punch, and quip, the competition was left wondering if they should’ve brought their own radioactive spider.
With strong audience reactions and excellent reviews fueling repeat viewings, the movie now appears to have a clear path toward joining the billion-dollar club in record time. If this pace continues, Spider-Man may need to start apologizing—not to New York—but to the box office history books.
One thing is certain: superheroes may come and go, but betting against Spider-Man has once again proven to be a terrible career choice.
