Disney Was Eyeing ‘Tangled 2’ But Never Moved Forward; Why?

Walt Disney Animation Studios Tangled was a massive success in 2010 and while a sequel never materialized, a sequel series on Disney Channel ran for a few seasons. Well, according to the films director, Nathan Greno an actual sequel was discussed but never materialized.

“We actually did an off-site at Disney, and we got the original team together, and we really all talked about it for hours, and we kind of walked away saying, ‘We couldn’t find a story worth telling,’” the director told The Direct.

Greno pointed to Tangled’s ending as the driving force behind a sequel never happening. “Once Pinocchio becomes a real boy, what else is there to say? Once the Beast becomes a human, what else is there to say?”

Despite there not being a Tangled 2, there is a lot to be excited for in that world. Disney is about to start production on their live-action remake, which is set to Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel, and Diego Luna as a new character being made specifically for the live-action film. The film will be directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman).
