ABC’s ‘American Idol’ Moving Production From Hollywood to Georgia

You know the iconic phrase, “You’re going to Hollywood!” from the long-running show, American Idol? Well, that is all about to change next year. Sources are saying that the show’s upcoming 25th season will be moving production from Hollywood, California to Atlanta, Georgia. Freemantle, which produces the show, is in final talks with the city to have show filmed in a studio complex there.

American Idol would not become the only ABC/Disney series to filmed in Georgia. Wandavision as well as unscripted series such as Fox’s The 1% Club and ABC game show Press Your Luck, hosted by Elizabeth Banks were produced there. The show would be less expensive to produce in Georgia because the state offers a 30% tax credit for unscripted and reality television productions that spend at least $500,000 there. The show’s current judges, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood, along with host Ryan Seacrest are expected to return, but deals are still being worked out.
