9 Year Old Rapper Cast As Young Simba In LION KING Remake!

During his performance at the 2017 Governor’s Ball Festival, Donald Glover – aka Childish Gambino – revealed that actor/singer JD McCrary will provide the voice of Young Simba in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King! Glover, who is playing the older Simba in the film, broke the news during a performance of his song “Terrified” – which McCrary is featured on.

The Lion King, which also stars Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa (respectively), James Earl Jones reprising his role as the voice of Mufasa, and Beyoncé possibly taking on the role of Nala, is directed by Jon Favreau and hits theaters on July 19th, 2019.
