CARS 3 Almost Featured Multiple Batmobile Cameos!

Easter eggs and references to pop culture are nothing new in Pixar’s Cars universe, and it turns out that the latest in the franchise almost featured not just one batmobile cameo but two.

During a recent interview with Screen Junkies, director Brian Fee revealed that in the film’s early draft, there’s a scene in which Lightning McQueen went to a Hollywood party that would have been packed with movie icons, including two different generations of Batmobiles. It would have been cool to see that in Cars form.

“At one point, part of the story took place in LA,” Fee said. “And we had a scene where McQueen went to a Hollywood hills party and it was full of actors, and we had the old Batmobile and the new Batmobile talking to each other at a party.”

Fee didn’t elaborate on the scene further but it would have been interesting to hear what they actually talked about. Since Cars, in my opinion, is the worst Pixar franchise, I wouldn’t care as much about the whole sequel but kids who dig this stuff would probably say, “cool!” if the Batmobiles ended up in the final version.

Cars 3 is now showing in theaters.
