The critically acclaimed and, at times, outspoken host of Last Week Tonight will be the voice of the universally beloved hornbill Zazu in Disney’s next and arguably most ambitious live-action adaptation.
Fans of the classic animated film will remember Zazu as the dignified, meticulous and tightly wound advisor to King Mufasa and the glorified babysitter of Simba. Oliver will no doubt bring the same aura of charm and charisma that was personified in the voice of Rowan Atkinson AKA Mr. Bean.
Oliver joins the already stellar cast of the Jon Favreau directed film. With Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino playing Simba, James Earl Jones playing Mufasa, and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen playing Timon and Pumpaa respectively.
Her’s hoping we get more casting information soon (and Oliver reprised Zazu’s famous rendition of Lovely Bunch of Coconuts).
The Lion King will be released on July 19, 2019.
