Former Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as Perry White, Laurence Fishburne!
Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns) is going to portray Janet van Dyne, wife of Hank Pym (portrayed by Michael Douglass) and mother of Hope van Dyne (portrayed by Evangeline Lilly).
Fun Fact: Evangeline Lilly’s first choice was to cast Michelle for the role of Janet!
Here’s her quote:
“I do not know anything about Ant-Man and Wasp. Marvel didn’t tell me anything, but wouldn’t it be cool if Hope was behind her mother (?) and if she was played by Michelle Pfeiffer?”
Janet is a scientist who vanished decades before when she shrank down to subatomic size. At the end of the 2015 film, Ant-Man, Hope received her mother’s outfit, which allows its wearer to adjust their size to and fight threats from a microscopic perspective.
Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) will portray Bill Foster, was a scientist who worked alongside Hank Pym, later becoming a size-changing superhero in his own right, initially as Black Goliath, and then taking over the role of Giant-Man from Pym.
The announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday during Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel.
Ant-Man and The Wasp, directed by Peyton Reed, will open on July 6, 2018 — two months after Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters.
