Alan Arkin Joins Live Action DUMBO Cast!

Disney’s live action adaptation of the Walt Disney classic Dumbo has been in production for almost a month now and the film is still adding talent.

According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, Oscar winning actor Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine) has joined the cast.

The film directed by Tim Burton (Alice In Wonderland, Batman) already has brought together an all star cast that includes Colin Farrell, Eva Green,  Danny DeVito, and Michael Keaton. Over the last couple weeks Z Nation’s Jospeh Gatt and Game of Thrones Deobia Oparei have also joined the cast.

The original animated film followed a ridiculed young circus elephant who is assisted by a mouse to achieve his full potential. In the live action adaptation the film will follow Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war. Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when Holt’s children (Parker and Hobbins) discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star. Arkin will play J Griffin Remington, a Wall Street tycoon.

Disney is currently on a hot streak with their live action remakes Alice in Wonderland , Maleficent, Cinderella, Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast have combined to gross over $4.5 million at the worldwide box office. Disney is also in the casting process for live action adaptations of Aladdin, Winnie The Pooh (titled Christopher Robin), Mulan, With many other in early development.

The film is currently in production in London and will hit theaters on March 29, 2019.
