Last year Disney announced that it would be releasing a live-action Mulan film in the future. Since then, rumors have swirled about the film. Well, this year at D23 and Comic-Con Disney gave us a calendar showing us when they would be releasing their films. Mulan is slated for November 2, 2018. Today, the production schedule has been released, and things will get rolling soon.

Mulan has not been cast yet, but there was a casting call sent out in 2016. They were looking for a Chinese actress that could speak Mandarin and Chinese. I’m sure we will get a casting set for Mulan in the near future. McFarland, USA/The Zookeeper’s Wife director Niki Caro will be directing the film. According to My Entertainment World, the production of the film is set to begin in late January 2018. Mulan will be filmed in Australia, New Zealand, and China.

Disney has been doing wonders with the live-action adaptions of their classics. Lion King and Aladdin adaptions are coming soon as well. Beauty and the Beast was released earlier this year, and was well received, and grossed over a billion dollars at the box office. Hopefully Mulan is met with the same response.
