Colin Trevorrow the man behind Jurassic World who was set to direct Star Wars Episode IX, has step down from the project. In a statement from the producers, on starwars.com, it announces Trevorrow and Lucasfilm have mutually chosen to part ways.

“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”

Trevorrow and his writing partner David Connolly wrote a majority of episode IX script but was undergoing rewrites since the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher. Since the rewrites, Jack Thorne has reportedly been working on the script.
