Disney’s Long In Development ARTEMIS FOWL Film Still Looking For It’s Cast!
Back in 2013 Walt Disney Pictures announced they required the rights and were in development on an Artemis Fowl film. September 2015 Cinderella helmer Kenneth Branagh was attached to direct. Since then the movie hasn’t gained much traction…until now.
According to Omega Underground Walt Disney Pictures is still holding an open casting call in Ireland for the lead role of Artemis Fowl (Disney is looking for an unknown young lead).
“We have the casting call, new audition dates in Ireland, along with a character description for the lead role which could become a recurring franchise role for a lucky newcomer.”
*ARTEMIS FOWL*
-Male 5’3 (9-13)
-Open To All Ethnicities
-Needs An Irish Accent
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: At first glance Artemis could be mistaken for a rather ordinary child with little athletic ability, but his eyes reveal a flickering of intelligence; inquisitive and possessing both academic and emotional intelligence, he is highly perceptive and good at reading people; most importantly, Artemis is warm-hearted and has a great sense of humour; he has fun in whatever situation he is in and loves life. No previous acting necessary.
*HOLLY SHORT*
-Female (14-19)
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Captain Holly Short is a female Elf. She is talkative, sarcastic, determined and the first female officer in her reconnaissance unit – a position that comes with a lot of pressure. Unlike some of the other fairies, she has a strong moral code and becomes one of Artemis’ true friends.
*BULTER*
-Male (25-40)
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Butler, though dressed properly as a personal valet, is a giant of a man, with no nonsense, spine-snapping demeanor. He is Artemis’ servant, confidant, protector, and muscle.
*JULIET*
-Female (15-18)
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: Butler’s little sister. She lives at Fowl Manor with him and Artemis. She’s somewhat clumsy but capable of incredible feats of gymnastics. She is skeptical about the whole fairy-hunting enterprise.
Auditions (by appointment only) will take place in the following Irish cities Galway (September 29-30), Dublin (October 1st), and Cork (October 14th).
Artemis Fowl is eyeing a late January start date and filming is expected to take place in the UK and Ireland. Disney has yet to give the film an official release date.
The Animation Commendation
I feel one of the boys from ‘Dunkirk’ would be a good addition to this cast.
