Fans have been asking for a Black Widow film since here amazing performance in Captain America: Winter Soldier. Well now thanks to a new report it looks like Marvel Studios is set to move forward with the project.

According to TheWrap, Marvel Studios has tapped Blacklist screenwriter Jac Schaeffer to pen a Black Widow solo film starring Scarlett Johansson who has portrayed the character in various Marvel Studios films since 2010.

Schaeffer made her feature screenwriting debut with the 2009 Tribeca film “TiMER,” which she also directed. She wrote the 2014 Blacklist pick “The Shower,” a female-centric sci-fi action comedy with Anne Hathaway attached to star and produce, as well as “Nasty Women,” a remake of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” at MGM set to star Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. Schaeffer most recently penned the Disney short “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” which played before screenings of Pixar’s “Coco.”

In a Vanity Fair piece, Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said the studio has “20 movies on the docket.” Given the character’s rise in popularity with mainstream audiences since debuting in Iron Man 2 it wouldn’t be completely surprising to learn that a Black Widow film is on the agenda.
