2018 was a big year at the movies for the Walt Disney Company. Thanks to films like Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Incredibles 2, Ralph Breaks The Internet, Mary Poppins Returns, and Christopher Robin, the studio grossed over $7 billion at the worldwide box office. Now 2019 is upon the studio, and they are looking to continue the success.

Here is the 10 films from the Disney Company hitting theaters in 2019.

Captain Marvel

Release date: March 8
Cast: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law
Directed by: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind)

It’s been a (too) long time coming, but with Captain Marvel, Marvel finally gets its first movie solely dedicated to a female superhero, starring Brie Larson as the butt-kicking Carol Danvers in this ’90s-set story. She’ll be fighting the shapeshifting Skrulls alongside Nick Fury. Other key charachters to appear include Ronan, Korath, and Agent Coulson.

Dumbo

Release date: March 29
Cast: Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green
Directed by: Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland)

Tim Burton, whose movies are known for being devastatingly tender and charming as well as edgy and weird-looking, is taking on what is perhaps Disney’s saddest movie ever in what looks like a glittery, adorable circus-set extravaganza. From what we are hearing the retelling will bring on the tears, and the latest trailer teases the powerfully emotional story.

Penguins

Release date: April 19
Cast: Dane Dehaan (Narration)
Directed by: Alastair Fothergill and Jeff Wilson (Planet Earth)

The DisneyNature documentaries have been a staple for quite some time now. It has been 3 years since a theatrical release of DisneyNature documentary (Born In China), this years Blue (Originally titled Dolphins was pulled from released and was sent to streaming). We now visit the Antarctic and follow the story of Steve, an Adélie penguin, on a quest to find a life partner and start a family.

Avengers: Endgame

Release date: April 26
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Brolin
Directed by: Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Infinity War)

A culmination of 11 years and 21 movies. Possibly 2019’s most anticipated movie. Avengers: Endgame sees the aftermath of Thanos wiping out half of all life in the universe, the remaining Avengers must do what’s necessary to undo the Mad Titan’s deed. In a recent interview with director Joe Russo, he stated this will be the longest MCU film to date, and could possibly have a 3 hour runtime.

Aladdin

Release date: May 24
Cast: Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari
Directed by: Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes)

This guaranteed-to-be-swashbuckling remake of Aladdin, is expected to go in the route of 2017’s Beauty and the Beast, by staying true to the animated classic, while giving us brand new interpretations of the Genie, Jasmine, amongst new characters, and brand new music from composer Alan Menken and Pasek and Paul (La La Land).

Toy Story 4

Cast: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Joan Cusack
Directed by: Josh Cooley

After a number of delays, Woody, Buzz and the rest of their plaything pals are returning to the screen with a new story, and new batch of charachters voiced by Patricia Arquette, Tony Hale, Key & Peele, and Keanu Reeves. The toys all end up on a road trip that will likely make us contemplate the meaning of life. Stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have both praises the film calling it an emotional film, Allen comparing it to Avengers: Infinity War.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Release date: July 5
Cast: Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya
Directed by: Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming)

We get it, Spider-Man: Far From Home is a Sony Pictures project. That said, he exsists in Disney/Marvel’s cinematic universe, so we are including it. The film set after the events of Avengers: Endgame sees Peter Parker on a field trip in Europe. While on his trip he is called to action, having to team up with classic Spider-Man villain Mysterio to take on a force known as the Elementals.

The Lion King

Release date: July 19
Cast: Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Billy Eichner, James Earl Jones
Directed by: Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book)

The third Disney remake of an animated film to drop in 2019 is quite possibly Disney’s most ambitious. After the critical and financial success of The Jungle Book, Favreau and his VFX team are set to bring the pride-lands to life. With an all-star cast and crew, and music from Sir Elton John, Tim Rice, and  Beyoncé. The Lion King is sure to be a box office smash.

Artemis Fowl

Release date: July 19
Cast: Ferdia Shaw, Laura McDonnell, Josh Gad, Judi Dench
Directed by: Kenneth Branagh (Cinderella)

This long in development film is based on the first and second novels from the book series of the same name. Director Kenneth Branagh has 2 for 2 with the Disney Company giving us solid films like Thor and Cinderella. The film centers on Twelve-year-old Irish criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl. This film has all the possibilities of being the next big franchise like Harry Potter, or it could be the next A Wrinkle In Time.

Frozen 2

Release date: November 22
Cast: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad
Directed by: Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee (Frozen)

Frozen surprised both audiences and critics at the box office becoming a billion dollar property for the studio. The film will see the return of Anna, Queen Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff and land of Arendelle. Though Disney is keeping most of the exciting details under wraps we do know that Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown have also been added to the all-star cast!

Star Wars: Episode IX

Release date: December 20
Cast: Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill
Directed by: J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

As the culmination of the third Star Wars film trilogy, the still-untitled Episode IX will probably be 2019’s most anticipated movie of the year alongside Avengers: Endgame. Whether you loved The Last Jedi or hated it, the misadventures of Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron are going to be the only thing anyone wants to talk about for a good portion of next year, Billy Dee Williams will be back to reprise his role as  Lando Calrissian and the role of Leia Organa will also once again be played by Carrie Fisher using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Well there you have it. As you can see, 2019 is going to be huge year for Disney at the box office again. We want to know what you are looking forward to in 2019. Let us know in the comments or on our various social media channels.
