It’s the summer of Keanu Reeves. The actor currently has John Wick: Chapter 3 in theaters, which is receiving praise from fans and critics alike, with a fourth film already announced. Now, he may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to our friends at MCU Cosmic, Reeves is in very early talks to join The Eternals. It is very early, but it a deal could come any day now. The role is currently unknown at this time.
Reeves would join a cast that includes joins the previously announced Angelina Jolie, who is said to be playing Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, as well as Kumail Nanjiani and Ma Dong-seok — both in undisclosed roles.
Details about the film are still tightly under wraps. However, we do know that it will center on the Jack Kirby-created comic, The Eternals. The storyline follows super- powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals. They battle with a more monstrous offshoot known as the Deviants. Deviants arose at the hands of the cosmic beings called Celestials (a race featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy films).
Chloe Zhao, an award-winning indie director behind the critical hits The Rider and Songs My Brothers Taught Me, will helm from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
Filming on The Eternals is expected to begin later this year after Black Widow wraps production.
