“Book of Enchantment” Villain Series Dropped by Disney+

Deadline has announced that an original Disney villain series, based on the “Book of Enchantment” book series, will not be moving forward. The proposed series was expected to debut on Disney+.

News of the series was first announced back in February. Deadline reported at the time that Michael Seitzman (Quantico, Code Black), ABC Signature Studios and Seitzman and Christina Davis’ ABC Studios-based Maniac Productions would hail the series.

The series would have been based on the popular book series by author Serena Valentino. The book series included stories based on Disney’s iconic villains, including Maleficent of Sleeping Beauty, Mother Gothel of Tangled, Ursula of The Little Mermaid and more.

It should be noted that Disney never made a formal announcement for Book if Enchantment. As well, Disney had never publicly green-lit the series.

Disney+ will launch on November 12. Several original series have been announced for the steaming platform. Series’ will include High School Musical: The Musical The Series and an adaptation of Love, Simon. Original movies will also be available on the platform, including a live action adaptation of Lady and the Tramp.
