Marvel Disney+ Series ‘What If’ Explores Zombie Captain America and Captain Carter

August 24, 2019Skyler Shuler

Disney+ and Marvel are working together on What If, Which will explore story altering questions in Marvel Cinematic Universe without directly messing with continuity of the films.

During the Disney+ panel for What If, some of the What If scenarios that were briefly discussed were, What if Peggy Carter took the super-soldier serum, and became Captain Carter? Also, a zombified Captain America was seen fighting Bucky Barnes, and what appears to be T’Challa as Star-Lord.

Hayley Atwell, who played Carter in both the Captain America films and the spin-off ABC show Marvel’s Agent Carter, appeared on stage and told the Expo audience that playing the S.H.I.E.LD. agent “is the gift that keeps on giving, but that’s also because of the fans. They love Peggy, they’ve brought her back.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that “almost the entire cast of the MCU will be lending their voices to the series,” while speaking at the presentation, he also elaborated on the show’s premise, saying, “The 23 films of the MCU that you know are going to showcase one little difference in each episode and see how things change.”

Jeffery Wright will narrate the series as the Watcher.

What If is expected to debut on Disney+ in Summer 2021.
