‘The Rise of Skywalker’ D23 Footage Released Featuring Dark Rey

On Saturday morning during the Walt Disney Studios panel at D23 Expo, Lucasfilm brought a pretty shocking sizzle reel.  While there are a bunch of cool shots within the teaser, perhaps the most talked about shot is the last one, Dark Rey wearing a black cloak and wielding a double-bladed red lightsaber.  Good Morning America finally released that footage online for the public to see. While some think that Dark Rey is a vision, I’d like to believe it’s real.  Rey and Kylo are two sides of the same coin fighting against their urges of dark and light.  While, Rey has been attracted to the dark in The Last Jedi, I think that it’d really drive home her characterization to give in to her urges.  In an interview with Variety, Daisy Ridley also supported the idea of Dark Rey saying, “I think it’s weirdly the most human thing, because everybody struggles”. Would you guys rather her stay on the light side or go dark?   The Rise of Skywalker comes out in theaters on December 20, 2019.
