EW has been dropping tons of new details for the series throughout the week, which we highlighted in a previous article which includes how the series will explore the mysterious origins of The First Order, and how Boba Fett will not appear in the series, and that the Mandalorian will not be a villainous character but more of an anti-hero who just wants to do the right thing.

Also set to appear in the series are Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) as Moff Gideon, Carl Weathers (Rocky) as Greef Carga, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi (who also directed an episode) as IG-11, as well as Werner Herzog, Ming-Na Wen (Mulan), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), and comedian Bill Burr in unnamed roles.

Star Wars legend Dave Filoni, who has worked on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, will direct the first episode of the series. Bryce Dallas Howard (Pete’s Dragon), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), and Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones) will direct additional episodes.

Jon Favreau is also executive producing the show, along with Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.

Check out the official synopsis for The Mandalorian below:

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

The Mandalorian will debut when Disney+ launches on November 12, 2019, with a new episode dropping each week. A second season of the series has already been green-lit and will begin production this Fall.
