‘Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad’ Will Not Be Available on Disney+

In a recent interview with Deadline, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger talked about his new book The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company.

During the interview, Iger was asked if Foxs’ popular animated series Family Guy and American Dad would be joining The Simpsons on the Disney+ streaming service. He gave a simple answer, “No.”

Episodes of Family Guy and American Dad are currently available to stream on Disney-owned Hulu and will likely stay there. This summer, Disney and Hulu shared that they’ve been working together to decide what content is right for which platform.

“We are getting to a place where we can have a very fluid conversation across our platforms,” said Agnes Chu, senior VP of content for Disney +, who spoke alongside Craig Erwich, SVP content for Hulu. While Disney+ will be the home of more family-friendly content, Hulu will keep some Disney owned content that works better for an adult audience.

All three of the animated shows are owned by Fox, which Disney now owns the majority of, after a $71.3 billion deal earlier this year. During Disney’s investor event in April, the company announced that The Simpsons would be joining the lineup of shows on Disney+ when the streaming service launches on November 12.
