Waititi will be adapting the documentary from Fox Searchlight along with Iain Morris while Garrett Basch will produce. Imaginarium Productions’ Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish optioned the rights to the documentary in 2015, allowing Waititi to take on the project.
Production on the film is expected to begin this Fall and will wrap in time for his upcoming Marvel Studios film Thor: Love and Thunder, which is expected to begin production early next year in Australia.
Fox Searchlight is no stranger to working with Waititi, as the studio is set to release Jojo Rabbit which will hit theaters on October 18, in which the director also stars.
