During the Christmas Eve episode of Live with Kelly & Ryan, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds confirmed that a third Deadpool film is in development at Marvel Studios.
Yeah, we’re working on it right now with the whole team. We’re over at Marvel now, which is the big leagues all of a sudden its kind of crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.
It’s very likely Deadpool wouldnt be introduced until at least phase 5 as the film is still in the very early stages of development. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are expected to return to write the third installment.

Ryan Reynolds shared on social media back in October that he had met with Marvel Studios, even making a joke about the role he was discussing about. Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige have publicly sugeested they’ll keep the future Deadpool films R-rated.

Reynolds is staying busy in the meantime he has the upcoming action-comedy Free Guy coming next year, written by Reese and Wernick. Two other projects that Reynolds has in development and are expected to film before Deadpool 3 are Red Notice also starring The Rock (Moana) and Gal Gadot (Ralph Breaks The Internet), and a remake of Clue, directed by Jason Bateman (Zootopia).
