Oscar Winner Christian Bale In Talks For ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Today, Collider has learned that Oscar Winner, Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) is in talks to join Thor: Love and Thunder. According to the news outlet, his role is being kept under wraps. Marvel has declined to comment.

Coming off of Ford vs. Ferrari, which is expected to take home some Oscars, Bale will hopefully hop back into the world of superheroes. Previosuly reported, Bale has expressed a distaste of the genre and has claimed he would never go back to the genre. No other news about the casting has been disclosed.

What we know so far is that Jane will become the next Thor as she does in the 2015 Thor series, The Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron. In the series, Jan gets terminal cancer and is selected to become the next Thor: The Goddess of Thunder. The film is expected to be based loosely on the source material.

Christian Bale will be joined by Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman and Taika Waititi, who is also writing and directing the film.

Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to start filming in August and currently has a November 5, 2021 release date.


Thor: Love and Thunder will see the return of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, followed by Tessa Thompson returning as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and Taika Waititi as Korg. The film will be written and directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige. It will be released under Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios.
