Production is ramping up on Marvel Studios’ newest film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and according to a new report a Creed 2 star has joined the cast.
According to Dark Horizons, their source has informed them that Florian Munteanu has joined the cast in a “secondary villain” role. The site didn’t report additional details on the character as its being kept under wraps as does most character details for Marvel based films/series.
Dark Horizons Editor-In-Chief, Garth Franklin who wrote the report is based out of Australia where production is taking place, and has been in this industry a long time, so we trust this news, though Marvel/Disney have yet to comment as of now.
A report surfaced last year, that other key Shang-Chi villains such as Tiger Claw, Moving Shadow, Razor-Fist, and Ghost Maker could appear in the film in an underground fight tournament, which suits Munteanu as he himself is a professional boxer.
Production, which will film under the working title Steamboat, is set to take place in Australian at Fox Studios (now owned by Disney) with some scenes to also be shot in San Fransisco.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Just Mercy), the film is set to star newcomer Simu Liu as the titular hero, popular Chinese actor Tony Leung (Infernal Affairs) playing the main villain, the Mandarin, Awkwafina (Jumanji: The Next Level, Crazy Rich Asians), Michelle Yeoh, and Rosalind Chao all roles are currently unknown at this time.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings will be in theaters on February 12, 2021.
