Lucasfilm Reportedly Bringing Ezra to a Live-Action Disney+ Series

It is becoming clear that Disney and Lucasfilm are taking their live-action Disney+ Star Wars series’ seriously, and it looks like they will continue expanding upon characters introduced us from Dave Filoni via The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels with characters such as Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff), and Sabine Wren (Sasha Banks *rumored*) making appearances in the highly-anticipated second season of The Mandalorian.

According to a new report from The Illuminerdi, they claim that Lucasfilm is currently casting for the role of Ezra Bridger for a currently unknown Star Wars series for the streamer, the site does clarify that The Mandalorian is not one of the options. Based on the casting description obtained by the site, the studio is looking for a male actor between the ages of 30 and 40 years old. Lucasfilm is also specifically looking for actors of Asian descent but is open to seeing auditions from Indian, Latino, or Middle Eastern actors.

For now, this news hasn’t been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm; however, I know the site pretty well and if they’ve obtained a casting description it’s usually legit, so it is a matter of time before we start hearing names of actors in the mix for the role.

For those unfamiliar with the character Ezra Bridger, he was introduced to us in 2014 on DisneyXD Star Wars Rebels, created by the aforementioned Dave Filoni. Ezra was a young Force-sensitive human street urchin living on the streets of the Imperial-controlled planet Lothal’s Capital City trying to survive by crime until he was taken in by Kanan Jarrus, becoming his Jedi apprentice and a part of the Ghost crew’s Rebellion against the Empire.

Season two of The Mandalorian is set to debut on Disney+ this October, with a third season already in development. The streamer is also working on a Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan series. There are rumors floating the internet that Ahsoka Tano is also getting her own series following her introduction in The Mandalorian. An Ahsoka Tano series would make perfect sense for Ezra’s appearance.
