Kelly Marie Tran Joins Hulu Anthology Series ‘Monsterland’

Kelly Marie Tran is working with the house of mouse once more, as the Star Wars actress has joined the Disney-owned Hulu anthology drama Monsterland, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The series, produced by Annapurna Television, is set in a world that involves encounters with Gothic beasts, including fallen angels and werewolves, broken people are driven to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives, ultimately showing there is a thin line between man and beast.

Tran will star in an episode titled “Iron River, MI” in which she’ll play Lauren, who returns to her small Michigan hometown to be married. She had managed to build a new life for herself after her best friend, Elena, went missing when they were 16.

Also set to appear in the series are Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart), Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), and Mike Colter (Luke Cage). The series is created, written and executive produced by Mary Laws and executive produced by Babak Anvari, Lucan Toh, Megan Ellison, and Sue Naegle. Ali Krug will serve as co-ep.

Kelly Marie Tran is most notable for her role as Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. She will also lend her voice in the Monsters Inc. spinoff series, Monsters At Work, which is set to premiere later this year on Disney+.
