Hulu is in development on Mexican Gothic, drama series based on Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s bestselling horror-thriller novel, Deadline has learned.
According to the trade, Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos will produce the project under their Milojo Productions banner along with ABC Signature where the company has had a deal. Milojo acquired the rights to develop the horror-thriller book for television in a competitive situation.
Mexican Gothic is set in 1950s Mexico in a creepy, isolated house where a young bride believes her new husband is poisoning her, and that ghosts walk through walls.
Moreno-Garcia will executive produce with Milojo’s Ripa, Consuelos, and Albert Bianchini. Michael Halpern is the Director of Development for Milojo.
Kelly Ripa recently recommended the book sharing it on her Instagram. calling it “Sublime horror for your summer reading. So good I bought the hard copy and the download to read in the dark.”

Ripa released a statement, sharing her excitement on the project:
