There has been a lot of conversation this week about the possible reopening of theme parks in California. Also this week the towns of Anaheim, Buena Park, and Garden Grove California have sent requests to Governor Newsom to reopen the parks. Governor Gavin Newsom has teased a reopening announcement but has failed to provide any specifics.
Newly appointed Disneyland President Ken Potrock has now weighed in on putting pressure on the state. He made this statement to the Oc Register.
“We are disappointed with the state’s lack of progress in providing the industry with guidance and clarity on reopening. We have proven we can operate responsibly, with strict health and safety protocols at our properties around the world and at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. Tens of thousands of people’s livelihoods depend on our ability to operate and we stand ready and willing to accelerate discussions with the Governor and his team to make ‘real progress’ toward our reopening and getting people back to work”.

Potrock’s statement comes on the heels of Disney Parks Chief Josh D’Amaros statement that Disneyland is ready to reopen and just waiting on the state to issue guidelines. Wald Disney World has been open for over two months and has not had any reported outbreaks. Disney has proved that the rules and regulations they have implemented are indeed working for sure.
We will keep our fingers crossed that we will get some kind of announcement soon. When do you think Disneyland will reopen ?
