In Praise of Emily Swallow

Playing an essential character in The Mandalorian, the actor creates Star Wars lore in each scene she appears….

So, you know who Emily Swallow is? And you know the actor plays “The Armorer” in The Mandalorian. But if you don’t understand why we’re talking about The Armorer today, move along.

Still here? Good.

The return of “The Armorer” was overshadowed by the return of “The Mandalorian,” but not by much.

And the actor under the golden mask is thrilled to finally (re) tell the world how much she enjoyed being back in Star Wars:

But Swallow undersells her own work, which was genius in its ambiguity.

Who is The Armorer? Does she seek what’s best for her cadre? Or is she simply the head of a dying theocracy, which aims to control each cult member.

As such, Emily Swallow’s Armorer might be the single most important character in The Mandalorian (and now The Book of Boba Fett).

The Actor Behind The Armorer

And Swallow is there for all of it:

However, as I pointed out earlier today, Tricia Barr isn’t buying Din’s deference to Swallow’s character in the most recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

Meanwhile, Sam Witwer, who voiced Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Solo: A Star Wars Story, pointed out what could be an obvious nod to her ultimate allegiance.

Finally, I wonder if we’ll EVER see Swallow’s face during The Book of Boba Fett or The Mandalorian?

Moreover, might The Armorer face off against “the cautionary tale?”

Stay tuned.
