Today, Sony/Marvel released the final trailer for their newest Spider-Man spin-off, Morbius. The trailer, which can be seen below, features new footage of Morbius in action and even more from Michael Keaton, who returns as his Spider-Man: Homecoming character Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture.
Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?
Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), the film stars Leto (Suicide Squad), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Adria Arjona (Andor), Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes), Tyrese Gibson (Fast and Furious franchise), and the aforementioned Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: Homecoming).
At the end of March, the film’s original release date was pushed back to March 19, 2021, due to the pandemic closing theaters around the world. In January 2021, the film was delayed again, first to October 8, 2021, and then to January 21, 2022, when No Time to Die was moved to the October 2021 date. At the end of January, Leto revealed that additional reshoots were taking place in mid-February. The film’s release was moved back another week at the end of April 2021, moving to January 28, 2022. At the start of January 2022, the film was delayed to its current release date of April 1, 2022, which was due to the box office success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which Sony hoped would continue throughout early 2022, as it has.
