Exclusive: Additional Casting, Production Details Revealed For New ‘Muppets’ Disney+ Series
Earlier this week it was revealed that The Muppets were coming back for yet another outing at Disney+ titled The Muppets Mayhem.
Rather than follow the traditional creatures fans know and love, however, it will instead focus on The Electric Mayhem Band, featuring the Muppets Dr Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips.
More specifically, the series will follow the band on an epic musical journey through the current musical scene as they finally attempt to record their first studio album.
While the series has just been announced, it appears that production is moving rather quickly. In fact, according to sources close to The DisInsider, we can exclusively confirm that the series will begin shooting next month! It’s expect to carry on into the summer.
Additionally, we can confirm that casting is underway for another a character named Hannah Gibbs. She’s described as an young Asian/Indian woman between the ages of 18 and 24 years old who, after being born into the era of likes, shares, and the idea that “if it wasn’t posted, it didn’t happen”, has built a social media empire by doing make-up videos. She’s apparently become so successful that it’s caused a rift in a relationship with her older sister, Nora.
As it was previously revealed, Nora will be played by real-life social media star and actress Lilly Singh. In the series, Nora will be the junior A&R executive tasked with managing and wrangling the mayhem caused by the famous Muppets band. It goes without saying that whoever gets the part of Hannah will be a series regular.
The first season of the single camera series will reportedly consist of 10 half-hour episodes.
Adam F. Goldberg (“The Goldbergs”), Bill Barretta (“The Muppets”, “The Muppets Haunted Mansion”) and Jeff Yorkes will write the series for ABC Signature and The Muppets Studio.
With production around the corner, we expect more updates on the series shortly. Be sure to follow The DisInsider on all of our social media platforms, so you can stay up-to-date with this show and anything and everything else Disney.
